The Officer's Mess Ante-Room at Sialkot. the 2nd Battalion was based here between 1889 and 1892.The Officer's Mess was a combination of residence, restaurant and social club for the battalion officers. The silver on the table belongs to the Regiment, and much of it was have a long history.The flags above the fireplace are Regimental Colours. They were carried on parade and in battle until they were too worn out, when they were replaced.These colours were carried by a previous 96th Regiment, the 'British Musqueteers'. This existed between 1779 and 1783 when Spain declared war in connection with the American Revolution.

They were donated to the Regimental Museum in 1948 and are in storage there as of 2013.
